Apple has introduced Apple Watch Series 12, a new smartwatch focused on deeper health and fitness tracking. Its headline upgrades include the Health Sensing System, S11 chip and a Readiness feature that turns recent health data into practical daily guidance.

More frequent heart and HRV sensing

The new heart sensors measure heart rate every five seconds throughout the day. HRV, a useful indicator of stress and recovery, is measured up to 24 times more often, with Recovery HRV and Overall HRV available in the Heart Rate app and updated Vitals views.

Readiness gives a daily training signal

Readiness combines sleep score, activity, training load and vitals into a 0–10 score with recommendations such as Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready or Go For It. The score can update as new data arrives during the day.
