Apple has introduced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with major updates to camera control, sustained performance, battery life and AI. The headline change is a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, a first for iPhone.
A more flexible Pro camera
The main camera uses six laser-cut blades to move through four aperture settings. It can automatically adapt to light and depth of field, or let creators make manual choices. New Pro Controls expose aperture, shutter speed, white balance and a histogram, while video gains post-capture Cinematic effects at up to 60 fps and 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapse.

Apple Reference Image
Reference mode signs sensor data at the pixel level and uses Private Cloud Compute to create an unalterable reference image. Users can view it beside the main photo in Photos to compare the original capture with later edits.

eSIM-only models deliver up to 36 hours of video playback on iPhone 18 Pro and 45 hours on Pro Max. Both run iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI beta, subject to language and regional availability.
Price and availability
US pricing starts at $1,199 for iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for iPhone 18 Pro Max. Thailand pricing was not listed on Apple’s Thailand store at publication time. Pre-orders begin September 12, 2026, with first-market availability from September 18, 2026.
Bottom line
The Pro lineup is aimed at users who want deeper camera control, stronger sustained performance and longer battery life. Variable aperture, Apple Reference Image and A20 Pro are the main reasons to consider the upgrade.
