If you miss an alarm or it is barely audible, inspect the alarm and sound settings before assuming the phone is faulty. Silent mode and Focus do not mute Clock alarms, but an alarm can have no sound selected, the wrong time, or be separate from the wake-up alarm in a sleep schedule.
Work through these checks in order
- Open Clock and confirm that the alarm is enabled, the time and AM/PM are correct, and the intended repeat days are selected.
- Open the alarm’s details and check that Sound is set to a tone rather than None. If the alarm only vibrates, choose a sound and preview it.
- Raise the alert volume in Sounds & Haptics, then set a test alarm a few minutes ahead to hear the actual level.
- If you use a sleep schedule, check its Wake Up alarm separately from regular Clock alarms; they are configured in different places. Make sure the next wake-up alarm has not been turned off.
- Restart the iPhone and install any available iOS update. If needed, create a new test alarm and see whether the new one sounds.
When to get more help
If a correctly configured new alarm still does not sound, or the speaker also fails with music and calls, contact Apple Support or arrange an inspection. Avoid manually changing the iPhone’s time as a test, because time changes can affect alarm behavior.
